What are the parent and family peer support groups?
Our parent and family peer support groups are for parents and family members affected by someone else's alcohol or other drug use. These groups are facilitated by parent and family peer volunteers who have experienced their own family member's substance use. With empathy and understanding, they draw from their own lived experiences to offer support, guidance and wisdom in a non-judgmental and caring environment.
In these groups, you will find a safe, welcoming space where you can share what is on your mind and connect with others going through similar experiences. Together, we explore the unique stresses and strains that families face, share coping strategies and provide helpful information. It is a space built on the power of collective wisdom, offering support and empowerment for everyone involved.
While our support groups can offer valuable guidance, they are not a substitute for professional support.
Our support groups are for attendees aged 18 and over.

Who are the parent and family peer volunteers
Parent and family peer volunteers are individuals who have been in your shoes. They understand what it is like to navigate the challenges of a loved one's substance use because they have lived a similar experience themselves.
With compassion and respect, they use their experiences to help others navigate their journey, offering hope, understanding, and practical support. Their role is to guide the group in a way that ensures everyone feels heard, respected and empowered.
