Support Groups and Programs

In addition to professional counsellors, the Parent and Family Drug Support Line has a network of trained parent and family peer volunteers who facilitate:

  • The Six STEPS program: This six-week program is designed for family and friends of individuals affected by problematic alcohol and/or drug use.  The program aims to equip participants with new strategies, tools and skills to navigate challenging situations and enhance their sense of fulfilment.
  • Support groups - These groups meet every two weeks in various safe locations, providing a space to discuss experiences and receive support from others facing similar challenges.  They are ideal for those not yet ready to join the Six STEPS program or for anyone wanting to talk about the impact of a loved one's behaviour.  Online support groups are also available via Zoom.
  • Drug Court - Trained parent and family peer volunteers attend the Perth Drug Court every Monday and Tuesday morning.  They are available to provide support, answer questions, and connect you with local services that can assist you and your family.
